Protecting your skin from sun damage may not always be convenient, but it is not difficult. First, avoid being outside in direct sunlight when the sun is at its brightest, around 12:00 noon, as well as a few hours before and after noon. Second, if you must be outside, stay in the shade as much as possible. Staying under a porch roof or the shade from a tree can do much to protect you from damaging sun rays. If that isn't possible, wear protective clothing, including a hat with a wide brim, to protect your skin. Even if the fabric is lightweight, wearing something that covers your arms and legs will make a difference. Make sure that the back of your neck, the tops of your ears, and other vulnerable areas are as covered as possible. An effective sunscreen can substitute for clothing in some cases. No matter how you choose to protect your skin, you would be wise to avoid sun damage as much as possible.
