Rescue groups are dedicated to rescuing and finding good homes for dogs that have been abandoned or left at animal shelters because their owners could no longer care for them. Rescue groups attempt to find a safe, permanent home for a needy dog right away. If this is not possible, members of the group serve as foster owners until they can find appropriate long-term care.
