When you're outdoors in the summer, you need to protect your skin from the strong rays of the sun. Always wear sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or more. Put it on 30 minutes before you go out, especially at the beach. Don't forget to put sunscreen on your hands and feet, ears, nose, and lips. During the hottest part of the day, sit or play under an umbrella or in the shade. If you're going swimming, use waterproof sunscreen. Put more on when you come out of the water. It's a good idea to wear a hat to shade your head, face, neck, and ears. You should also wear sunglasses. The sun can damage your eyes too. Remember that you can get sunburned even on cloudy or cool summer days. The sun's rays can travel through the clouds. So whenever you're outside in the summer, put on lots of sunscreen.
