The ancient Greeks fought against the Trojans for many years. Finally, a Greek soldier came up with a plan to win the war. The Greeks built a gigantic wooden horse. Some Greek soldiers climbed inside and hid, while the others sailed away, pretending they were giving up. Soon the Trojans found the wooden horse. A Greek soldier, who was left behind as part of the plan, told the Trojans that the horse was an offering to the goddess Athena. The Trojans did not want to make Athena angry, so they pulled the horse into the center of Troy. The horse was so big that the Trojans had to tear down part of the wall that protected the city to move the horse inside. Then they had a big victory celebration. Finally, everyone fell asleep. The Greeks soldiers hiding in the horse came out. They signaled the ships, which had sailed just around the corner. The Greek army came back through the opening in the wall and killed all the Trojan soldiers and won the war.
