Categories: Art & Music

Dylan was good at spelling. It was his favorite part of language arts class, and he looked forward to each test. He didn't even have to study to pass. His friends always came to him when they needed the definitions for long words or had trouble with words that were hard to pronounce. Dylan's mom was the one who taught him to love words. She told him that words were like magic. They could help you tell someone how you were feeling, how nice they looked, or how much you liked their food. Words had the ability to build bridges between people, and Dylan loved to help others. Words also had the power to hurt others. Dylan knew this because he saw other kids cry when someone said something mean to them. He decided he would only make people smile with the things he had to say.
