Lasers are even used to measure gases on space missions. Laser light is not like natural light. Laser light is a special type of light. It is made by humans. Laser light is made up of only one color. On the other hand, sunlight is made up of many different colors of light. Laser light also does not spread out like light from the sun or light from a light bulb. It only shines on one spot. It makes a very narrow beam of light. These characteristics make laser light very powerful. It creates lots of energy in one spot. Scientists use this energy to make our lives easier.
