Tonight was Tracy's high school graduation. She tried to listen attentively to each of the speakers. She did not want to miss a moment of this milestone. But she was having trouble concentrating. She kept thinking about how strange it would be to never return to this school. She would never again see some of the people she had been in class with every day since kindergarten. Tracy sat up straighter in her seat. She adjusted her gown. The row of people in front of Tracy had just been called to the stage. She knew that any minute she would hear her name over the loudspeaker. She stood and made her way to the stage. She heard the cheers of her classmates. Then she spotted her family in the bleachers. As Tracy crossed the stage, she met the principal. They shook hands. Then Tracy received her diploma. She had never felt so proud.
