Dogs need exercise just like people do. If you walk your dog, it's a great way for you and your dog to get some fresh air. If your dog is a big dog, he might just take you for a walk! Dogs have to be trained to stay on a leash and heel. Heeling means that your dog walks beside you at your heel. Sometimes a dog might see a squirrel or a rabbit and want to run off to catch it. You can stay in control by telling him to "heel" and reining him in. It's good for small dogs to go for walks too but they might not be able to go as far without getting tired. Whether you have a big dog or a small dog, make sure it has a nice drink of water when you return from your walk. A tasty treat never hurts either!
