Jarren and his little brother Jake visited their aunt every August. She lived in the mountains. The two boys always complained about going. But then they always had a great time. Her house was old. It was surrounded by sloping, green land. Their days were usually filled with running around the backyard. Then they would swim in the pond. Their aunt Lucy made them delicious meals. The nights were cooler in the mountains. So the boys spent them inside. They would play cards and board games. They also watched movies. This year, Jarren spent the first day in the mountains walking alone through the trees. Then he swam in the pond. Jake splashed about. After dinner, Jarren sat on the couch. He looked through one of Lucy's books. Jake was chasing a fly, swatting at it. Lucy sat down next to her oldest nephew. She placed her hand on his shoulder. "I guess you're growing up, huh?" She smiled as she spoke. He nodded.
