Georgia's best friend, Mia, moved to New York City three months ago. Georgia was finally going to visit her. She had never been to New York City. She had heard many things about the city. Some people said it was scary. Other people said it was very fun. Georgie wasn't sure what to expect. When she got out of the airport, she got onto the subway, just as Mia had instructed. It was a long and crowded ride. Finally she walked up out of the subway. It was early afternoon and the sun was bright in her eyes. There were people everywhere! She could smell roasting nuts and hotdogs. Car horns were blasting and everyone was speaking loudly. Everywhere she looked, there were tall buildings. It was just as she'd imagined it. Georgia took out a small piece of paper and looked at her scribbled directions. Indeed, she was headed in the right direction. Mia was supposed to meet her on the corner up ahead. As she was folding her piece of paper, she saw her friend running toward her through the crowd. She found her! Mia took Georgia's arm and, as they walked, told her about all the fun activities they had planned for the weekend.
