James had not seen snow very often. He had grown up in the South. He moved to the North looking for work. The job he found, however, was driving a snow plow. Tonight was his first night on the job. He looked out the frosty window. A fresh new blanket of snow was falling on the roads. He turned the heater on full blast. He pulled his coat tight. The cold was new to him but driving a plow was not. A plow was much like a tractor. He had driven a tractor in his father's fields. He revved the engine. He shifted into first gear. The wheels began to move. He drove down the road. Behind him, instead of rows of plants, was a black ribbon of clear highway.
