Birdwatching is a great hobby! It costs very little, and you can watch birds no matter where you live. All you need are a pair of binoculars and a book called a "field guide" to get started. If you want to watch birds in your yard or outside your window, a birdhouse or feeder will help attract them. Building a birdhouse can be a lot of fun! Some birdfeeders will stick to your window, so you don't even need a yard. A birdbath will help attract birds too. Learn to identify birds around your house first. After you learn the names of a few, you can go on nature walks and look for other birds. Bring a camera or a notepad to record what you see. Then you can look up the birds in your field guide when you get home. Birdwatching is a great way to spend time outdoors with your family or friends. Just remember that you don't have to know anything about birds at first. You'll learn something every time you look through your binoculars!
