Do you ever have trouble falling asleep? Sometimes it is difficult to stop thinking about all of the things that have happened during the day. Sometimes we are too worried about things that might or might not happen to relax enough to get a good night's sleep. If this ever happens to you, there are several things you can do to help you sleep better. First, try to go to bed and get up at about the same times each day so that your body can get into a natural rhythm. Also, avoid stressors and avoid caffeine in evening hours. You may want to have a snack shortly before bed, especially one that is high in carbohydrates. Warm milk is often suggested to induce sleepiness also. Once you get in bed, you may want to listen to soft music, but you should not watch television or do anything that will stimulate your brain. Finally, see a doctor if your inability to sleep lasts very long or causes you problems.
