Categories: Animals & Nature Mystery

Cryptozoology is the study of animals that are rumored to exist but have not had their existence proven with any kind of conclusive evidence. The animals in this special category are called cryptids. People who study these animals are called cryptozoologists. An example of a cryptid is a sea serpent, like the Loch Ness monster. Another more believable type of cryptid is the giant anaconda. Anacondas are extremely large snakes that actually do exist. The biggest one known is reported to be 32 feet long. However, some early European explorers reported seeing 60 foot long anacondas in South American jungles. There is no known record of an anaconda that large. For their research, cryptozoologists rely heavily on information from local people in areas where these creatures are reportedly seen. Many of these special scientists are criticized for their research into these strange creatures and legends.
