If Julian were allowed to eat whatever he wanted for dinner, he would start his meal with an appetizer of cream cookies. He would dip them now and then in a glass of whole milk and wipe the crumbs from his lips with a white linen napkin. He would then enjoy a salad of corn fritters and walnuts. Walnuts were his favorite kind of nut. He would wash the salad down with a grape soda and await the fabulous entree, a plateful of sandwiches, each one made from white bread and cubed butter that had been dipped in powdered sugar. Julian decided that one day when he was rich he would open a restaurant.
