Do you think a pig would make a good pet? Many people do. Pigs are smarter than dogs or cats. Pigs can learn to do tricks. They can learn to sit or even to dance! You can teach pigs to walk on a leash and use a litter box. Most pet pigs in the United States are potbellied pigs, originally from Vietnam. They grow to be anywhere from the size of a cocker spaniel to as large as a Labrador retriever, and they weigh about 100 to 150 pounds. Pigs eat fruit, vegetables, grains, and meat. When people say they are sweating like a pig, maybe they should know that pigs don't sweat. Pigs roll in mud to cool off, so people think pigs are dirty. In fact, pigs are some of the cleanest animals around. Some towns don't allow pet pigs, so don't buy one until you make sure they're legal where you live.
