Hunter rushed into the house as soon as he got home from school. He could not wait to see Rusty, his new dog and best friend. Hunter heard the familiar sound of toenails clicking on the hardwood floor and saw Rusty's furry head appear from around the corner. Hunter bent down and rubbed Rusty between the ears. "How are you doing, boy? Are you ready for our afternoon walk?" Rusty ran ahead of Hunter into the kitchen where the leash was hanging on a hook beside the telephone. Every day since Hunter's mom had brought Rusty home last week, Hunter had taken Rusty for a walk after school. The walk had become Hunter's favorite part of the day. He suspected it was Rusty's favorite part of the day too. Hunter opened the door and stepped outside, thinking how lucky he was to finally have a dog of his own.
