Categories: Animals & Nature

Peacocks strut around like royalty when they fan their long beautiful tail feathers and hold their colorful crested heads high. The most colorful peacock is the male peafowl. Female peacocks are called peahen. The females are brown, dull green, and gray in color. Females do not have long blue-green tail feathers like the males. The male peacocks use their colorful tails to show off in front of the females. Peacocks are forest birds that nest on the ground. They eat plants, flower petals, seeds, insects, and even small reptiles. You might say peacocks are very proud birds because they strut with their heads held high in the air. There are many kinds of peacocks, including the Indian peafowl, the Dragonbird, and the Congo peafowl.
