Bubbles the clown was sad. He could not make anyone laugh. He went to a birthday party for a little boy with curly hair, who a big swimming pool in his backyard. The children didn't laugh when Bubbles fell down. They just looked at him. When he honked his nose, they ran behind the side of the house. The little boy's mother went and got them. Bubbles wondered what he could do to be funny. He tried balancing a ball on his nose. All he got from that was red makeup from his nose smeared onto the ball. Nobody laughed except one grown-up. That didn't count, thought Bubbles. He wanted the children to laugh. He tried juggling. The children yawned. What could he do? Bubbles looked at the children. He looked at the pool. He started doing backflips end over end until he flipped right into the swimming pool. His nose, clothes, and red wig all got wet. The children laughed and laughed. Bubbles was happy.
