Socrates was a famous philosopher. A philosopher is someone who states ideas about how life works. A philosopher also has ideas about what is important in life and what is right and wrong. Socrates lived a long time ago. He was born in 469 B.C. Socrates was born in Greece. He lived most of his life in Athens. He died in 399 B.C. Socrates' ideas were very influential. Socrates liked to question things. He told people to ask questions. He encouraged people to think for themselves. Socrates had many students. His most famous student was Plato. Plato became a famous philosopher, too. Socrates did not write his ideas down. What we know of his ideas comes from Plato. Socrates sought to find wisdom. To him, knowledge led to the right decisions. Socrates' ideas became very influential. His ideas are still studied today. He is one of the most studied philosophers ever.
