More than half of the people in Minnesota live in Minneapolis. Minneapolis is sometimes called Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Saint Paul is a small town that is surrounded by Minneapolis. Some people call them the "Twin Cities." The Minneapolis baseball team is called the Twins. Minnesota is sometimes called the "Land of 10,000 Lakes." Minnesota actually has 11,842 lakes. It has more shoreline than any other state in the U.S. The rest of Minnesota is filled with farms and forests. Some of the lakes are part of the "Boundary Waters." The Boundary Waters are lakes that are partially in the U.S. and partially in Canada. Minnesota is right next to Canada. Since the lakes share a border, they are called the Boundary Waters.
