Byron knew there was no such thing as ghosts. But he liked to sleep with a light on anyway. His mom and dad told him that there was nothing to worry about. They said that he was as safe as a bug in a rug. Byron didn't like the idea of bugs in a rug any more than he liked the idea of ghosts. Byron's mom and dad let him sleep with a night-light on. But, they didn't know that he also kept a flashlight under his pillow. Sometimes when Byron rolled over, the flashlight would press against the side of his head. That made it hard to sleep. Other times, the night-light would keep Byron awake. He finally decided to try sleeping in the dark and without a flashlight under his pillow. When he awoke the next morning, he knew he would never be afraid of ghosts again.
