Doing the laundry can be an important contribution to family life, but there are a few things you should know before you begin. First separate the items to be washed into light and dark loads. If there is anything delicate in the laundry, it may need special care. Make sure you understand the operating instructions of both the washer and the dryer before putting anything into either machine. When you are ready to start, put a load of clothes into the washer. Choose the appropriate settings for water temperature, agitation speed, and size of load. Add laundry detergent as directed on the container, and turn on the machine. When the washer has finished, put the washed items into the dryer and choose the appropriate settings. You may want to add a softener sheet at this point. To avoid wrinkles, you can stop the dryer and remove items before they are completely dry.
