Animals were not allowed in Minta's house because her parents were allergic to them. She wanted to have a cat, but she couldn't figure out a way to have a cat and not make her parents sick at the same time. Minta lived where there were lots of cats without homes. These cats could be dangerous if they did not have the proper medication to keep them from infecting other cats. Minta realized that a few cats really liked her house and would be at her back door every morning. Her mom said that Minta could put food and water outside every day for the cats. Then perhaps she could find a way to take them to a veterinarian so they could have medical care. Soon Minta would have many cats that would be her outdoor pets.
