By the time Mario and Andre reached high school, they had been business partners for about five years. Their first business venture had been a lawn service that they started when Andre's mother bought a new lawn mower and donated her old one to the boys. Many hours of sweat over several years eventually netted Mario and Andre several thousand dollars. While the boys used much of their revenue for spending money, they had put about a third of it into the business, buying new lawn equipment, paying for gas, and occasionally hiring additional help when business was at its heaviest. The summer after middle school, they decided that they should do something else with their money. They realized that college was fast approaching. Mario and Andre decided to take their funds to the bank and open savings accounts. They would put their earnings to good use by saving some college tuition so when it came time for college, it wouldn't be such a financial burden on their parents. And if anything was left over, then they would use it to get a little enjoyment out of life.
