The myth of Daedalus and Icarus comes from Ancient Greece. Daedalus was a craftsman. He built a maze for Minos, the king of Crete. Daedalus and the king had a fight. The king put Daedalus and his son Icarus in prison. To escape, Daedalus made wings. He put bird feathers on wood with wax. He and Icarus tied the wings to their arms. They flapped their arms to move the wings. They flew out over the sea. Daedalus told Icarus not to fly too high. Flying too close to the sun would melt the wax. Icarus did not listen. He flew higher. His wings melted, and he started to fall. He moved his arms faster, but the wings did not work. The feathers were almost gone. Icarus fell into the sea. Daedalus flew over and looked for his son. Only feathers floated on the water. Daedalus never saw Icarus again.
