Jeremy set his cup on the table. He took another look around the room. It was the first middle school dance of the year. But the boys and the girls were congregated on different sides of the room. Jeremy knew he had to do something. He had to bring the two sides together. Then he saw Jill, the pretty girl from his science class. He started to walk toward her. As he crossed the large, darkened room, he knew all his classmates were watching him. They were anxious to see what would happen. After what seemed like forever, Jeremy was finally standing in front of Jill. He smiled and tried not to feel awkward and nervous. Jeremy asked her if she wanted to dance. Jill blushed and nodded. Jeremy took Jill's hand and led her to the dance floor. Then he noticed other boys crossing the room to acquire dance partners. Jeremy smiled. This was going to be a good night after all.
