She couldn't wait to get there. Emma tapped her fingertips on the armrest. She stared out of the train window. A green blur of trees flashed past. Sighing, she leaned her forehead on the window. The glass was cold, and she could feel the vibrations of the tracks through it. She imagined her grandparents waiting at the station. Her grandmother would be wearing that green coat, Emma guessed. Emma checked her watch again. It would be another hour. What should she do? She had already finished her book. And she had eaten her snack right after she boarded. Maybe her grandparents would take her to lunch. Then they could visit the Washington Monument afterwards. Grandpa called it the "giant pencil." They would go to the top of it. Emma was excited about taking pictures of the city with her new camera. She smiled. She could wait a measly hour for that.
