The Lusitania was a big ship. It was from England. It was a passenger ship. It carried passengers to the United States. The Lusitania was a really nice ship. On May 7, 1915, the Lusitania was destroyed by a German submarine. The Lusitania was not a military ship. It was for passengers. Germany said the ship carried war supplies though. The Lusitania sank. This was during World War I. Germany and England were enemies during World War I. When the ship sank, 1,195 people died. That included 128 Americans. The sinking of the Lusitania turned many Americans against Germany. The United States was not in World War I at the time of the sinking. Many Americans didn't want to get involved. After the Lusitania, many Americans wanted to join the war against Germany. America did enter World War I in 1917. It was on the same side as England.
