My parents are getting ready to go out. My grandmother is here to watch us and talks to us as Mom and Dad get ready. Dad puts on his nice shirt and his fancy shoes. I watch him put on his tie with precision, flipping it back and forth. My grandma helps Dad put on his cuff links. Mom puts on her jewelry, hums to herself, and smiles in the mirror while putting on makeup. My mom and dad glide from the bathroom to the bedroom and back to the bathroom. Dad puts on the record player and dances with my sister and then with me. Then he goes back to getting ready. My sister and I watch, wondering what fabulous places they go wearing such lovely scents and such lovely clothes.
