Các bạn thân mến!

Writing được các thí sinh IELTS xếp vào dạng khó nhằn nhất trong số 4 kỹ năng của bài thi IELTS, nói như vậy không có nghĩa chúng ta phải bó tay hay tự ti trước các bài Writing. Hôm nay, các bạn hãy cùng AMES khám phá cấu trúc bài Writing Task 1 để có thể tự tin chinh phục khi đối mặt với bài thi IELTS nhé!

Trong bài Task 1 có 6 dạng chính: Biểu đồ đường (Line graph), biểu đồ cột (Bar chart), biểu đồ tròn (Pie chart), bảng (Table), sơ đồ - Bản đồ (Map), sơ đồ - Quy trình (Process). 

Khi nắm rõ cấu trúc của các dạng bài trên, chắc chắn bài Writing Task 1 sẽ không bao giờ là trở ngại khó nhằn đối với bạn nữa!

1. Biểu đồ đường (Line graph), biểu đồ cột (Bar chart), biểu đồ tròn (Pie chart), bảng (Table): 

Có thể nói, 4 dạng biểu đồ trên là dạng bài “dễ xơi” nhất trong 3 dạng bài của IELTS Writing Task 1. Đối với các dạng bài này, bạn cần phải chia bài viết của mình ra thành 3 đoạn và nắm rõ các bước sau đây:

Lưu ý: Trong một số biểu đồ có rất nhiều con số, chúng ta không thể đưa hết những số liệu này vào bài mà chỉ đưa ra những con số nổi bật nhất thôi.

Đối với dạng bài có hai biểu đồ, các bạn hãy miêu tả từng biểu đồ theo thứ tự. Trong trường hợp hai biểu đồ liên quan tới nhau (ví dụ: Hai năm khác nhau của cùng 1 dữ liệu) hoặc 2 loại dữ liệu độc lập. Nếu giữa hai biểu đồ này có sự liên quan, khi viết miêu tả biểu đồ thứ 2 các bạn hãy so sánh.

Ví dụ: 

The bar chart shows the unemployment rates among women in the countries that make up the United Kingdom, both in 2013 and in 2014. There has generally been a small decrease in female unemployment rates from 2013 to 2014, except in Scotland.

In 2013, 5.6% of women in Northern Ireland were unemployed. The only country with a smaller percentage of women unemployed was Wales, with a rate of 5.4%. Both countries saw a decrease in the percentage of unemployed women in 2014. In Northern Ireland, the percentage fell to 4.6% and in Wales it fell to 5%.

England had the greatest percentage of unemployed women in 2013, with 6.8%. However, this decreased by 0.3% in 2014. Lastly, Scotland was the only country which had an increasing percentage of unemployed women. In 2013, it had 6.1% of women out of work. This increased to 6.7% in 2014, making it the country with the highest female unemployment rate of the four countries.

2. Dạng sơ đồ - Bản đồ (Map):

Đối với dạng này, các bạn hãy viết bài thành 4 đoạn.

Ví dụ:

Both maps display an island, before and after it was developed for tourism.

The island is approximately 250 metres long, has palm trees dotted around it, is surrounded by ocean and has a beach to the west. Over the period, the island was completely transformed with the addition of a hotel and a pier; however the eastern part of the island appears to have been left undeveloped.

The most noticeable additions are the hotel rooms. 6 buildings, surrounding some trees, have been built in the west of the island and 9 buildings have been constructed in the centre of the island.  Between the two accommodation areas, a reception building and a restaurant has been developed.

A pier has also been built on the south coast of the island, allowing yachts access to the resort. Apart from the trees, the beach remains the only natural feature to remain relatively untouched; however it does appear that it is now used for swimming.

3. Dạng quy trình (Process):

Thông thường, thí sinh IELTS thường cầu mong bản thân mình không phải gặp bài thi Writing Task 1 dạng quy trình, tuy nhiên thực sự thì dạng quy trình khá dễ viết, thậm chí đôi khi còn dễ hơn cả dạng biểu đồ nếu bạn nắm rõ quy tắc viết sau đây:

Lưu ý: Đối với dạng bài quy trình, những gì bạn cần viết đều đã được cho trên biểu đồ. Bạn chỉ cần viết lại cho thậy hay và đa dạng các câu ví dụ như: các câu chủ động đan xen với câu bị động, dung từ đồng nghĩa v.v…

Ví dụ:

The diagram explains the process for the making of chocolate. There are a total of ten stages in the process, beginning with the growing of the pods on the cacao trees and culminating in the production of the chocolate.

To begin, the cocoa comes from the cacao tree, which is grown in the South American and African continents and the country of Indonesia.  Once the pods are ripe and red, they are harvested and the white cocoa beans are removed. Following a period of fermentation, they are then laid out on a large tray so they can dry under the sun. Next, they are placed into large sacks and delivered to the factory. They are then roasted at a temperature of 350 degrees, after which the beans are crushed and separated from their outer shell. In the final stage, this inner part that is left is pressed and the chocolate is produced.
